In Louise Vanneste’s work, the relationship with nature is an original and powerful link that is disseminated in the dancing bodies and through the stage space. Her shows make the elements of which they are composed (music, lighting, bodies…) vibrate with what is directly around them, the audience. “Dancing is touching the most animalistic part in the human being,” said the choreographer at the premiere of Thérians at the Biennale in 2017. In this piece, two figures, human, mythological or animal, moved around in a game of shadows, rustlings, assaults and flights. Louise Vanneste has now reinvented the danced material in that piece – originally a solo for two performers – as a duet.
In this simple version in a studio, the choreographer encounters the choreographic writing and vocabulary in plain sight and in its raw state. Clearing / Clairière exposes something new in the artist’s world, revealing the physical and sensitive dimension to it.
