Black Milk

Black Milk

Duo / 2013 / On tour

Between mirroring and oppositions, a duet in the feminine plural for a dance of energy/tensions/suspensions with blurred and magnetic visions of a singular twinship.

The body in the feminine, or rather bodies in the feminine: a constant in Louise Vanneste’s work. Tangibly charged bodies, vehicles of a mostly minimal dance, with a “raw” and powerful physique in which black and white happily reign as master of ceremonies. Creations like long dolly shots in a magnetic landscape, immersed in a “radical” and regularly hypnotic sound bath.

In Black Milk the artist does not fail to observe her signature style which is simple, uneasy and sensual all in one, here with a preponderance of white and light. It features Eveline Van Bauwel, one of the two performers who took part in Persona with her (a trio created in 2011).

Around a game of symmetry and its opposites, the women sketch out a journey full of transformations and metamorphoses. Playing lions, sheep, wolves, women, men, mothers, children and shapes in turn, they sneak in, wait and direct, always interacting, always alone…
